The 2012 season for our under 17 team was severely affected by the weather, many matches were cancelled due to the rain, it always seemed to throw it down on a Tuesday!

On behalf of all Sheffield Collegiate CC members I would like to offer our deepest sympathy to Martin & Sharon Sayles on the tragic death of their Son Dominic.
Dominic was a lifelong player at Norton Oaks CC and well known to our younger members. Martin has always been a popular visitor at Abbeydale Park and all our thoughts go out to him and his family at this very sad and difficult time.

The VPXI need a scorer for about half of our fixtures. First chance for someone to help out is this Saturday on the top pitch...the game starts at 1.30.
Good rates of pay (up to £20) are available for someone who can keep a neat book..training offered to someone willing to learn.

Sessions will be held outside as follows:-
MVCA, Under 9's & Under 11's - Friday evenings
Under 13's - Monday evenings
Under 15's - Tuesday evenings
Under 17's/Mens - Thursday evenings
All sessions 6pm to 8pm ( apart from the first MVCA session which will be 5.30pm to 7.30pm)
The attendances, effort and quality of play have been exceptional at the indoor nets. Let's carry this on outdoors and we will have a great season throughout the club.

Our first outdoor session of the MVCA is on Friday 19th April
For the first week the timings will be 5.30pm to 7.30pm
Registration from 5.15pm -all children welcome. Boys 6-11 yrs old and girls 6-13 yrs old

Dear All
Due the continued overnight snow and consequently the difficult travelling conditions getting off local estates etc we have decided to cancel all the nets this morning. In addition we have not been able to confirm whether or not the school is open so we could all make the effort to get there and find the caretaker hasn't opened up.
Can you also note that the school is closed next Saturday for the Easter holidays so the next sessions will be on Saturday 6th April at the usual times.

The Club are delieghted to announce the appointment of Simon Guy as our Head Coach.
Please see below introduction from Simon himself...
As Yorkshire CCC wicket keeper batsman, I was with the club for a total of 16 years starting as a YTS at the Yorkshire cricket school where I first did my level 1 coaching badge and found a real passion for coaching. I went on to spend 11 years on the first team staff, playing in 4 day 1 day and 20/20 cricket. I was part of the team that won the first class county championship the second XI championship and the second XI Trophy.
I am now a level 4 coach and have been since November 2009. I coach on the EDP U17 & U19 programs based at Loughborough I am also part of the national scouting group for this program covering the North. I also scouted for the wicket keepers for the England Lions program last season under Bruce French.
I am engaged also as player/coach for Suffolk minor counties in 2012 and 2013, delivering the level 3 coaching module for the ECB coach education.

Gala Dinner and Q&A with Joe Root
Saturday 6th April 2013 at Abbeydale
The club will be holding a Gala Fundaising Dinner with special guest England, Yorkshire and Collegiate player Joe Root. Tickets cost £40 each or £350 per table of 10. Price includes a 4 course meal with coffee in the newly refurbished function room at Abbeydale followed by a Q&A session with Joe Root. Update - 25/02/13
Gordon has been discharged from hospital, is on the long road to recovery and hopes to be watching cricket at Abbeydale when the season begins.
Update - 19/02/13
Gordon is out of intensive care and responding well to treatment.
As some of you may know Gordon underwent heart surgery on Tuesday and is currently recuperating in the Intensive Care Unit at the Northern General Hospital.
Our thoughts and prayers are with him for a full and speedy recovery.

It is with deep regret that we announce the death yesterday of our Vice-President Clive Tiddy.
Clive was formerly President of Old Edwardians CC and a great supporter of our Club over many years.
Details of the funeral and a full obituary will follow in due course.

JOHN WESTON - Very sadly I report the death in London of John Weston.
John kept wicket efficiently, and at times brilliantly, for our Yorkshire League Side from 1962 and captained it in the years 1967,1968 and 1969. A good and popular Club man.
Our condolences go to his family.

Following a good number of requests I am pleased to be able to advise that we have been able to secure a time and a venue to run some winter training for the Under 9's.
Full details are on the 'Nets' part of the website and the first session is on Sunday 27th January 2013.
Existing and new MVCA members are more than welcome.
