Match reports for all teams

Possibly the youngest Academy Eleven travelled to Clifton Lane to take on table toppers Rotherham Town on a refreshingly bright afternoon. Welcome back summer.
A combination of holidays, dinner parties and suspected swine flu(text message received at 10.30p.m on Friday Night) deprived us of three of the senior players from the Wath game. Add to that T being promoted to the firsts to replace the injured Josh(get well soon mate) and the age profile dipped considerably.

First outing on the main pitch for the Academy this season.
First game on main pitch for several seasons for some of us. No play the previous day due to rain. The strip a curious two tone either side of middle stump with one half greener than the other. Have a bowl.
Tickhill arrived with a stand in captain, ten men soon to be 12 and in slight disarray. Did they lull us in?
Toss lost. Half Hour and Jacques to open. T played the last pull shot of his career and skied one. Shot later consigned to back changing room in a career altering ceremony for our resident Villa fan.

Sheffield Collegiate Red v Eckington Sunday 26 July 2009
With the teams level on points going into this, the final match of the season, everyone was hoping for good weather. At 9.45 it was raining at Abbeydale, and it continued for another 45 minutes. It was not heavy enough to saturate the pitch though and when it stopped, it was agreed that a 15-over-per-side match could take place without risking the pitch for the 3rd XI cup match in the afternoon. The only stipulation was that if the rain restarted the match would be abandoned immediately, whatever the score.

Sheffield Collegiate suffered two defeats against Yorkshire Academy in 7 days, however the manner in which this happened could not have been more different.

SCCC 114 for 2 beat Millhouses 113 ao - 25 points.
A very welcome victory for the fourths which even raises the faint possibility of avoiding relegation.

3 games left for the massive....weather permitting, home game, good chance of a victory! Good by Crofty senior to get a wicket ready after rain past few days. Strong team fielded including an appearance from all 3 Root’s, Nads back in for a home game, and Riaz.
12 over’s agreed (just like every other week!), due to poor light and possible showers. Kashmir a weakened team with all 3 Javed’s, so feeling confident!

Football, Rugby, Fielding and Pyramids. A fine mixture of training methods on Thursday. Friday night and it looked like Breaststroke, rowing and canoeing would have been better preparation.
Cue one or two more wines than usual.
Saturday morning. Cracking the flags. Typical!
Meet at the Dale. Lime and soda. No Harry. Hello Harry where are you? Nobody told me I was playing. Get yourself down here sharpish Harry. This is not Sheffield Wednesday. Look at the website for details of selection. Fair play to Harry, arrived within ten minutes.

In a game interrupted by a heavy shower and often playing in a steady drizzle at Stocksbridge , collegiate won by 100 runs to win there 2nd trophy of the season .
Batting first on a slow wicket openers Matt Lee and J ames Harrison scored steadily and where not troubled by the hosts bowling: several probabul 4s being slowed to 2s by the wet outfield.

And they said Hamps and I couldn't manage two games in two days! We not only did but we also managed a celebratory bottle of wine!
Cup Quarter Final. Fielding back from family do in for Mr Chairman Sir. Callis in for Priesters. Rotation of the Seniors is vital. Ask Sir Alex!
Top pitch minus the odd pavilion window thanks to mindless hooligans. Overnight rain. Wet track. Change of policy. We'll have a bowl. Match balls not located in first team changing room. Hamps to the rescue.

A more experienced Academy side than normal made the short trip to Bawtry Road for the second Division Two Derby of the season.
Unfortunately, the selected scorer did not get further than Meadowhall. The scorebook no further than the Abbeydale changing room. You know the drill boys. If one of our number is absent use your initiative and do his job for him!
We were therefore obliged to Gill Morgan for stepping in at the last minute with scorebook and all.

Another good turn out for nets from the Academy side. Out in the middle again working on finding the gaps with the bat until gone 9. Thanks to Riaz and Crofty.
A much changed team travelled to Tickhill for gala day minus The Saint, Hamps, Bond, and the Duke's charges Udall and Half Hour from the victorious Warmsworth conquerers.
The ground, like the village, a picture. Changing rooms cosy. If only someone hadn't let loose with the deoderant pre match! Bit Stuffy in here! Try a shower in the morning please guys.

Mansfield team in need of a win having lost last week, to drop a place in the league to second, had a team of senior players...as all juniors pre-occupied with their own games.
Meeting time very early, more cars than players to drive us there, with Crofty and Rooty not able to sneak into the squad! Arrived at ground for 12.45, despite not starting till 2, with pitch still locked. Pre-game reading supplied by Murralister...good selective of Zoo and Nuts, good work!
