Club Family Day
Submitted by Riaz on 4 August, 2008 - 13:16.The Club Family Day and Gordon Hall 6-a-side that was unfortunately cancelled last year due to rain is due to be held on Sunday, August 24.
With the current unavailibility of a significant number of players we are contemplating changes from the 6-a-side format to 20/20 and also possibly the date. We are looking at a junior and senior 20/20 match with players made up from U/13 to U/17 in the junior match and all teams in the seniors. The matches will be played in coloured clothing with a white ball and all the normal 20/20 rules. read more »

Hot day at Abbeydale no breeze. Toss won and Dicko wanted to bat.
Blade and Skunk put on another 50 partnership until pepe was caught at slip for 28 again with 60 on the board. Stewie went quickly. Root snr added another 70 odd with Blade. A cloth to midwicket was a disappointing end for Rooty.
Simmo smacked 20 odd and we stumbled to 219 with the old man making another brilliant 100. Especially when the zimbabwian was swining it round trees both ways.
Early wicket of Dan Harland helped lbw from pistol. A decent caught behind followed stood up and pete had 2 fer. read more »

Collegiate reach Twenty20 finals day
Submitted by Wyles on 23 July, 2008 - 08:13.On Monday night at a glorious Bawtry Road, the 1st team saw off the challenge of current South Yorkshire league leaders Elsecar to reach the inaugral finals day of the South Yorkshire T20 cup.
Looking resplendent in our new SCCC one day kits, we arrived a little apprehensive as to what the night would have in hold for us.
After winning the toss, popular captain Matt Dixon elected to bat.
Things didn't start too well, when Blade was done for pace by their overseas (I just don't think he could get used to this coloured clothing thing). However Joe Root looked in fine form and was keeping the scoreboard ticking at a serious rate of knots along with Riaz. read more »

TURGID BLADE TO MUCH FOR TARN

Tarn came to bright lights big city and expected to roll us with the multitude of pros at their club.
Beast and Pitch had a chat about seasons gone by on the balcony whilst the other 20 players warmed up.
Won the toss on a wet one. Good opening spell from Greaves and Pistol and some dreadful running saw the end of SW.
Rooty came on and frustrated the tarn and Wilson and Morris went. Pistol decided to drop Wainers twice having already dropped two c&bs.
Nads bowled his worst spell of the season and still picked up three wickets.
Pete dropped another before taking a blinder and 130 was an excellant performance. read more »

Like our batting performance an all too brief match report!
Riaz looked round and let Simmo captain. Wyles opened with Davey. ID got a bit of tap despite bowling fairly well for an opening batsman but still got some tap. Replaced by Fielding who did similar but at a slightly more economical rate. Will Lacey bowled nicely but their openers put on 100 before their overseas (60) was LBW to a slower bal in Wylie's 2nd. No. 3 departed thanks to a superman runout from Wyles. Other opener batted through for 64. Prash bowled well at the death apart from a couple of wides. The fielding had been amusing in places and a couple of dropped catches coupled with some pretty good batting meant we had a big total to chase. read more »

Indian Tour
Submitted by Riaz on 17 June, 2008 - 10:54.The proposed tour to India later this year will be from the 22nd October to 8 November. This will be a few days before October half-term and a few days after, which hopefully enables a few more players to avail themselves. The maximum cost would be £400 excluding spending money.
We will play seven matches in total - two 2 day matches and five 50 over matches in five different cities and possibly a day-night 20/20 tournament. The tour will start in Mumbai and end in Goa. read more »

York CC 185-8 Watching Brief 4-60 N Khan 3-50
With a mixture of teenage moodiness and some stiff oaps and a swollen finger Collegiate entertained top of the table York.
Minus Gaywood/Stewart/Colegate.
Billy opened the batting with moi and we started pretty brightly going at 5s for the first ten. Billy clipping Mr popular for a three boundaries. Unfortunately the senior partner was stumped of a deflected pad.
TL got out just as a shower engulfed Abbeydale. 58min 34sec delay and Billy and Dad were together all to briefly. 70-3 entered the walking hamstring and a brilliant innings aided by Matthew 99 partnership. Rooty clothed one and Length hit an outrageous six into the sitescreeen at the tennis court end. read more »
