hespey has organised for a photographer for 7.00 ish on friday. they are expecting photos of at least 3 teams. if we can get there as early as poss hopefully it won't delay the dinner too much ! in reply to charlie's question "no, we are not taking our whites for the photo" (genuine question). thanks, ed. ps: don't worry, this year captains have been limited to max. 10 mins each, including prize giving, so i won't be able to bore you to tears for 40 mins again...boo !

It was just announced that bitter and twisted Angry has been fired from his duties by Bev Priestley as quiz setter at the after season dinner (12 October -tickets still available) . It has been felt by the punters for some time that his quizzes are too difficult as the ydo not contain any questions about soaps. Hurt and despondent Angry, who has always said that his ability to set questions on soaps was always going to be limited as he lost his last piece in the shower some years ago, was said to be sad and confused.
He was overheard at the midweek league dinner last night as saying he might take his bat and ball home and was in discussions with his agent. His agent said he would consider his future with SCCC and perhaps rather go and play at Coal Aston as at least they like to play positive cricket.
Congratulations to Ed, Sue, Christie and Louisa on the birth of a baby boy, Robert.

Here are the final South Ridings League tables for 2001. Congratulations to Sheffield Collegiate and Darfield who now play in the premier division next year, and to Coal Aston and Sheffield Collegiate who move up to Division 3 next year.
SCCC is interested in attracting new players for the 2002 season in order to maintain the high standard achieved in recent seasons.
Interested players are referred to the main menu for details of the relevant contacts.

The 2nds got 147. Bridlington got them for 6 with 10 balls left. Jonesie says Fantastic effort by the boys to take a team with a pro and several paid players to the penultimate over. " Hopefully Ringo will post a match report later, sounds like a good game, and well played anyway!"

Club dinner: Baldwins, 12 October. Be there.
Midweek League dinner, 6 October. Embassy Ballroom?
I'll post dates for the other league events as I am made aware ofthem

As I mentioned on the discussion board a little while ago, I intend to make some changes to the site. Not necessarily the appearance (which I'm not entirely happy with), but certainly some of the features. Please add comments to this article saying what you like and what you dislike about the site.
Be assured that in any revision, anonymous postings will not be permitted.
We could do with someone to write a few players profiles. Any volunteers?

I would like to congratulate SCCC on a great season and for
retaining the Yorkshire League crown.
Best Wishes

Dear all,
Sheffield Telegraph wanted to take a first XI photo on Saturday. I will attempt to get as many there as i can, but also, having explained all the trophies the club has won, I suggested they may want a club photo aswell, with all players/trophies etc. Please let everyone know that this will happen this Sat, 6.45 pm before the party (sorry, this is as late as they would agree to, I know there is a game on, but if we drag the photo session out we may get everyone in ???)
Call me with any questions, cheers, Ed

Don't forget the players' meeting at the club Thursday 7.30. Everyone invited, indeed required, to be there.

Here are the 2nd XI teams for the weekend of 10-11 September 2001. More silverware at stake. I hope everyone on this list has paid their subs?

From Ed......it's not often i get the chance to get on the site nowadays, but i thought i'd make the effort today. just to say well done to everyone involved at the club this year, possibily our best season ever with the successes of the various teams. on a personal note, well done to everyone who has suffered my captaincy this year in the first xi, as, despite this, we seem to have won the league again !! whether you have played 1 game or 26, you have contributed to the success, and i can honestly say i can never remember it being harder to win the league than it has been this year. scarborough have already sent their congratulations to me, which is nice to see, although i'm not sure the league president or press are particularly happy with the outcome. lets celebrate the success again, and make sure it happens again, for all teams, next year. cheers, ed.

Rossington 58 (Lord 5-9 or thereabouts). Collegiate 59 - 0. 6 points and the League

Coal Aston 93-7 (Butler 7-46 from 23); Collegiate 94-1 (Vaughan 45* odd, Colegate 45* odd). 5 points. What should have been a good top of the table clash ruined by dismal negative Coal Aston.

I am reminded that Saturday is the last outing of Rebecca before he heads back to the veldt.

We enjoyed having him here and hope he makes it back. He's a good bloke despite knowing Bradley Bing and says he'll put us all up when we go visiting in South Africa."

Here are the league tables up to 2 September 2001. It's all good news as we are top of both divisions, but the SR4 side will have their work cut out this Saturday to stay top as Coal Aston have a game in hand.
