Annual web site face lift

OK, the site has had a makeover (actually not quite fiinished yet). No changes are necessary for login/passwords. Some broken parts of the site have been excised. Changes:

  • The weather module broke but now works and has a 5-day forecast.
  • We now have a book module which can benefit club funds
  • The guest book feature has been replaced with new coding, but the earlier comments are lost.
  • The discussion board broke. The original software author is not supporting it anymore, and it would take me several days to fix it myself, so we now have a new system, but again all earlier posts are lost.
  • all other components should be better
  • you can now see who else is logged in at the same time as you
  • I've addeed a news feed from the BBC

If you want it we can have a real time chat facility as well. Do you? I don't use a PC myself and have not yet tested it with a PC, but it's fine on my computers. This means possible glitches of course. Please, therefore, try everything, and let me know if you spot any problems - if i don't know there is a problem it won't get fixed will it? The season's new fixtures are being added slowly.

Site revamp

As you may have spotted, the site is being updated. The appearance of the revised site is not ready yet. There is a possibility that the discussion system is now broken (don't know why yet) meaning the collected wit and wisdom from 2002 might be lost, but I have installed a temporary new one. Please be patient, and not Angry.

Changes to SY web site

I see the SY web site has switched to the same system as we are using here (PostNuke). Sincerest form of flattery! It is now at http://www.southyorkshirecricketleague.com/ You get a user name and password the same as you did here. You can change the rather cryptic password that you will be assigned to something more memorable by clicking on "My acount""

AGM 10 December 2002

This year's AGM will be held Tuesday 10 December 2002 starting 6.30pm at Abbeydale upstairs in the restaurant.

All members, playing, junior or otherwise are invited. The meeting will be followed by a Pie & Peas supper at a cost of £6 per head.

As the captains didn't have the opportunity to make speeches at the end of season dinner they will be able to say a few words on the 10th.

Details will be forwarded to all members in the post and if you want to join in with the pie & peas you need to let me know.

We hope to see plenty of you there.

Presentation Cabinets

The new Presentation Cabinets have been installed in the new room at Abbeydale and need to be filled. The big cabinet is for memorabilia of the 2000 Cup final at Lords/Southgate and I was wondering if any of you had any photos of the day that you would like to donate. I would also like someone with an artistic temparament to arrange these displays. Any ideas? Foulkie perhaps. Please contact me asap on andytasker@aol.com or 07932 163574.
Thanks

2002 Merit Claim Winners

The Club is delighted that two of our players won SY League awards:

Division 3
Batting R Bird (Dronfield)
Junior Batting M Simpson (Collegiate)
Bowling M Longley (Collegiate)
Junior Bowling J Cooper (Dronfield)

I thought I might have sneaked the junior bowling but never mind.

2nd Team Scorebook is missing

Apparently the 2nd team scorebook has gone AWOL. Does anybody have it. If you have please get it to Ibbo or Hespe otherwise we won't be able to get figures in for the league averages.

You won't believe it

Champions!

Congratulations to all involved at SCCC 3rds who are now confirmed as South Yorkshire League Division 3 champions and promoted to Division 2 for 2003. It's always difficult for a 3rd team to do well in a league containing 1st and 2nd teams as often (or even usually) several players are lost at short notice to higher team. So this really is a top club effort as not far short of 40 people have played at some time or other this year. Well done!
