Provisionally, the 2nds first fixture in the SY Premier league is 24 April at Whitley Hall while the 3rds entertain Whiston PC at home in SY Division 2. The final fixtures for each side in 2004 are scheduled for 18 September.
Now that the playing is over we are compelled to go to lots of dinners and eat & drink lots in preparation for Xmas & to make sure that we don't lose too much weight before next season.
We therefore have to take a table at the South Yorkshire League Dinner which is to be at Phoenix Saturday 22 November starting at 7:00pm. Not sure how much but it's usually been around £15 a head & the wine list is red or white.
If you want to come please let me know by either posting here of giving me a bell, text or whatever. So far there's me, Dicko, Stewie and Tony. Please let me know ASAP so I can confirm to the league.

The 5XI averages are listed below. All players who played one or more games are listed in alphabetical order.

Here are the 4th XI Averages (Yorkshire/Derbyshire Div 1) for 2003

Here are the 2nd team averages for 2003. I've just included the senior players who have bothered the scorers. Vaughany's bowling average of 22 will not be recorded! Thanks for the memories. Stewie

Here are the provisional averages for the 3rd team 2003, league and cup averages combined.

Warmsworth 188 for 8 (McCann 106, Mark Winter 3-47, Tony Miller 3-57), SCCC 187 for 6 (Richards 49, Heslop 39, Horsfield 3-44). What a close game......
SCCC II 2 points, Warmsworth 5 points

The latest Division 2 tables show that Shiregreen and Warmsworth (who we play this weekend) get promoted, and that Thorncliffe II and either Rotherham or Rossington go down.
We shall be joined by Tickhill and either Frecheville or Barnsley from div 3 and Coal Aston and either Rotherham Phoenix II or Denaby & Cadeby from div 1.
We need to be aware that Div 2 is the tightest in the league in the sense that the point spread between top and bottom is the narrowest. Every point counts.
It seems the tables are wrong and Rotherham have another game to be played on Sunday. If Rotherham, Rossington, and Mexborough all win their games and we lose with no points, we go down. So, still all to play for.

OK - here are the teams for the final weekend of the season

Bad news this. Richard Tong has resigned as Chairman of the SY League. I've taken the liberty of adding his resignation statement, and I'm sure that all here will sympathise with the sentiment....

Beautiful sunny day on the top ground, flat wicket and fast outfield - the scene was set but what was to follow wasn't part of the script....

The AGM of the Sports Club (not the cricket club) is on Wednesday, 8 October in the upstairs function room at 7.00 p.m.
I guess a good cricket presence can only be useful.

Saturday September 13th, after the last SY games. After a drink or so at Abbeydale, curry in Dore (definitely not Dore Station). All players and hangers on, from all teams please come along to talk the season over.

SCCC 241 for 5 (Richards 99 not out, Simpson 41, Heslop 36, Leiper A, 31; Windle 2-77), Thorncliffe 149 all out (Smith J 50, Mark Longley 7-43). SCCC III 7 points, Thorncliffe II 0 points.
Why can't the web site get the start times correct? The match yesterday was billed as a League game with a 12noon start. In fact it was a cup game with a 12.30. start.I notice game at SU.this Sat down as 14.00 start, when in fact it is 12 noon start.Take more care as I and my mates rely on this site as we are avid watchers.

Please note that now September is upon us, the 2nds fixtures will start at 12.30pm.
Cheers
Stewie
