SCCC Tour

Possible tour to Bristol this year. I have put out a few feelers and a mate has said he may be able to arrange a fixture in their Cricket week on either Wed 12 or Fri 14 July. There is a possible fixture at Clifton that week too. Any interest? Please let me know asap.

Lager

Saturday sees the end of the 1st Team season and the last game for Riaz. For these reasons there promises to be a large turn out for a few drinks on Saturday night. We'll no doubt meet at the Dale and take it from there with Champs being a distinct possibility. Try to make yourself available. All welcome (even you Sealy!!)

Thank-you to Collegiate

I've just woken up with a terrible hangover. Opened yesterday and made 55 not out - my first fifty. Just wanted to say thanks to Collegiate for getting me started in the game, and especially thanks to Leips/Ben and Sealy for letting me into their sides when I didn't know how to hold the bat. I'll take this chance to rub in the weather - its been up into the 30's for the last 5 days. Shame all the wickets are astro!!!

Cheers

We're so vain

We saw we were number 1 in the SY bulletin board last September with "You're so vain" by Carly Simon. Actually it was "We're so vain" and here are the words......

Umpires' rooms and remarking pitches

I have been asked to point out to all clubs that the pitch must be swept and remarked (and rolled if requested by the side batting second) at the tea interval. Some clubs are failing to do this and it is just not on. Also there are several reports of clutter and junk being stored in umpires changing rooms. Yesterday I was at a ground with probably the smallest umpires room in the league. It contained 6 chairs, two cricket bags, assorted tackle and an upright Hoover. Not enough room for one umpire let alone two. This is just not good enough and sanctions may well be taken on clubs who fail to comply with these two items. Umpires are to be instructed to report ALL cases of the above being infringed.

Top Ground Pavillion

Can we have a progress update on development of the pavillion on the top ground.

Rumours of jacuzzis, steam baths and nymphettes providing towels and a rub down after the game (only for those over 50) are rampant.

Wicket keeping gloves

It looks as though interpretation of the new regulations regarding keeping gloves will be difficult because because the legality or otherwise of a glove is seen to be a function of how far the keeper can spread his or her thumb and forefinger." A more easily defined definition of legality of gloves or otherwise is being sought. Read more...."
