5XI vs Sheepbridge 2nd May

5XI game versus Sheepbridge. batted first scored 107-9, Sheepbridge managed to reach the target for the loss of 4 wickets. Believe it or not the 5XI are second in Division 3 !!
The 5XI started their season with a game at Abbeydale. Skipper lost the toss and we were inserted. The pitch was multi-coloured, ranging from pale straw to chocolate depending which end you were batting at. With the opposition an unknown entity we started cautiously, scoring about 10 runs from the first ten overs.
Trying to accelerate we lost quick wickets to some interesting decisions. Tom Leiper showed the batting technique inherited from his father in scoring 20 or so and was supported by A Ruparelia & Chris Bellamy.
Tea was taken during a thunderstorm and we returned to face one over with Billy Root and Nabeel Abdul at the crease.
Matt Collins & Simon Fox opened the bowling and kept it tight for the first ten overs without much luck. Matt bowled one of the openers off a no-ball. Nabeel replaced Simon and was economical. Tom Leiper and Billy Root bowled some interesting balls which deceived the batsman. However the target was reached with some time to spare.
