Poor Performance Leaves thirds With Lots To Do

A Lazy performance (with a few exceptions) left the 3rds with a lot to do next week to avoid the drop.As we arrived at Rossington the carnival was in full swing next door, but there was very little uplifting about the overall team performance.
Even the good start from Lobber and Angry didn't seem to improve morale as both picked up good early wickets. The number 4 was seemingly plub first ball to Angry but the umpire showed no interest.
This proved to be costly but the batsmen were still giving chances, with a lot of aggresive batting. Bartles and Ibbo both bowled well, backed up to a lesser extent by Littleleips but a combination of clean hitting, poor fielding and outrageous luck saw both batsmen reach their fifties. Both fell later on (the No. 2 to a spectacular C+B from Angry) but with wickets in hand the Rossington batsmen simply slogged their way to 200 for 4. It could easily have been more.

Despite the poor and in many cases lazy performance in the field, we felt we still had a good chance of victory. Chelsea Bob and Danny W both looked fairly comfortable before Bob played on. Tom Stewart played a series of fascinating if not aesthetically pleasing strokes before he too succumbed to the spinners who were so bad they were effective. We wre still in good shape but the middle and lower order failed miserably. All of the next six wickets were the result of very very VERY poor shots and shot selction. Not one of them was got out by the bowler, it was just simple mistakes. Fortunately Angry remained firm and stubborn and between himself and Lobber we managed to survive to the last over. Lobber was bowled with four balls to spare so enter Ibbo who negotiated the next 4 balls with the grace of the born batsman he is.

A poor performance which leaves us with a lot to do next week. We need to be better in every aspect.
