The 2nds ended a successful season with defeat at Wickersley. Wickersley 168 all out. SCCC 163 for 8. Score Card

! won the toss and had very little hesitation about fielding first. Tony and Bully bowled very well and Wickelsey were reduced to 34 for 3. Bully bolwed his full allocation of 15 overs on the bounce to finish with 3 for 36. Tony was wicketless but bowled an economical 7 overs for just 13. Nadeem came on a once again kept things tight and removed their mniddle order but when his alocation was up (5 for 44) our bowlers were put to the sword by their tail enders. They went from 90 for 8 to 168 all out. We put a couple catches down which proved crucial at the end.

Tea was refreshing and included many helpings of melon. What a refreshing change!

In reply Simmo and Danny both fell early to Zahid who was bowling very quickly. He hit Rooty on the elbow before I ran myslef out for a positive 21. Macca came in and played well but with Rooty struggling the run rate fell. Macca and Butts batted well to get us within 25 before Ed fell for 50. Our own tail enders tried to swing but we ended up 5 short.

Some excelloent performances, particularly from our bowlers but we can only blame ourselves for failing todo the doubl over the former champions. We let them escape from 90 for 8 to post a score and we then failed to knock off a modest total on a postage stamp of a ground. Last game of the season, yes but lots to learn from a game we really should have won.

Now all that remains is for our all dayer next Saturday. Waif is planning an early one and even suggested that we meet late on Friday evening in order to be ready for the excesses!
