Never in the history of the Yorkshire League has a side won the League Title, the League Cup and the National KO in the same year until now. Last year?s postponed final was played on another belting wicket at Abbeydale against a much changed and young Doncaster side. Collegiate?s total was 20 30 runs short of what it could have been. Half centuries from Gaywood, Priestley and McKenna and a cameo from Charlie Wall ( no Charlie, a cameo is not a broach that your mother might wear, nor a bar of soap), gave the home side a decent score. 5 batsmen scored ?0?, facing 8 deliveries between them, 3 of whom were out first ball, (Tasker, Hespe and Wyllie). Third man in a hat-trick for Western Australia?s Peter Worthington, Andy Wyllie nearly trod on the square leg umpires foot, such was the distance that he backed away to square leg as the delivery was made. His contribution did not stop there however - he also bowled like a drain and dropped a sitter. Charlie Wall accounted for Yorkshire opener Simon Widdup and the experienced shell suit wearer Peter Ellis. Mark Boocock accounted for their professional as the younger Doncaster players struggled to come to terms with Collegiate?s spinners .

Items of note during the game:
- the young England batsman from Worksop College (with a surname like parking cars ) who in a pre-season friendly had called Collegiate a ?set of cheating fatherless people?, got a warm reception from the lads as he came into bat as might be expected.

- Andy Wyllie was nominated as the weakest link good-bye for his all-round contribution to the victory.

- Andy Tasker?s meat raffle raised a considerable sum for the club on the day a remarkable achievement when the prize was 4 links of Richmond pork sausage.

- the catering staff managed to get sandwiches, tea and milk onto the table - all at the same time.

- Doncasters new wicket keeper gave the experienced John Hespe further cause to consider retirement when John realised that he used to play with the young man?s grandfather, Gordon Chadwick, at Bradford in the early 1980?s.

The ?Castleford Six?s match summary;
Well done to everyone involved. A fantastic achievement. No club has ever done before what we have done. We all pay to play, we have no overseas player and to be National Club Champions, Yorkshire League Champions and Yorkshire League Cup holders for the same season, is a remarkable feat.
Wyllie never been a fast bowler I bet he?s never had a ?ten-for?!
