Some points are better than none

OECCC 172/7 Hundall 162/7 12pts each incomplete match.
A lot of energy, nervous and physical, and sawdust were expended in a finally frustrating but very respectable performance against the runaway leaders yesterday......A steady start by Langdale and Heslop, a mini collapse to 57/4 and several showers did not augur that well. However Markit's all in the head" Bawden continued to find himself with a well constructed 48 including a magnificent straight 6 inducing double teapot from Barry Cox. He was well supported in two 50 stands by Scotty and Rus, also continuing good form. We finished after tea and faced with a very tight time limit to get the full overs in.
Early wickets went with a spate of no-balls and wides, which more than accounted for the 2 overs we failed to get in. The runs conceded from them and the two wickets taken from them also helped Hundall survive. Needing 100 off 29 overs with 8 wickets in hand and Alan Hampshire at the crease, the skipper had no choice but to lob a few up. Hamps quickly succumbed and assisted by a top catch from Bawden, Sealy tied an end up finishing with 5/32 from 14 by the close. It was by then the best weather of the day but we had to come off. Looking at the rule book I'm not sure we got it right now, the time we lost at the start shouldn't have affected the calculations that led to playing a time game. Did we lose 30 mins. after the start? If we'd bowled all the overs we may well have lost anyway. Whatever we gave Hundall a very good run for their money."
