3rds miss out out in last ball thriller

Warmsworth 188 for 8 (McCann 106, Mark Winter 3-47, Tony Miller 3-57), SCCC 187 for 6 (Richards 49, Heslop 39, Horsfield 3-44). What a close game......
SCCC II 2 points, Warmsworth 5 pointsAn end of season thriller at Abbeydale saw SCCC fail by 2 runs in a tense chase to beat promoted Warmsworth. Warmsworth batted first and looked set for a big total with 111-1 from 26 on a flat Abbeydale pitch. I wouldn't say we bowled particularly well which was annoying given the need to extract points from the last game of the season. Later, Collegiate reined Warmsworth in from there with only 76-7 coming from the last 20. The last 20 was really good, with some good bowling from Miller and Angry supported by good fielding. Ozzie McCann scored a good ton in his last game for Warmsworth.
The instruction at tea was "do good batting". Collegiate started the run chase a little too slowly with only 40 from the first 20 and the loss of Simpson adjudicated lbw. Danny Walton accumulated 22 to start the innings soundly and to allow the run chase to start in earnest. Riaz and Shaka picked up the pace and dragged the asking rate down from 7 to 6. The last over saw Collegiate needing 11, and Miller smashed a series of twos to keep the situation fluid. It came down to 2 from the last ball, which unfortunately got missed. An invaluable two points for Collegiate nevertheless.
Some incidents of note.
Angry's last ball in cricket before his 50th birthday yielded a wicket with a smart stumping by Scotty. I guess bowlers of extreme pace don't normally welcome stumpings but Scotty is a class act of course. Does the club have a better, or indeed more prominent, keeper?
Group inspection of lacrosse on training ground.... Oh well.
Shaka scored his first ever 6 at Abbeydale, but it had to be helped over by a hapless fielder as it wouldn't have made it otherwise.
Riaz run out by a direct hit by 6 yards. Must run quicker.
Longers number 11 in the dnb list. Gutted.
We all decided 12.00 was a fine time to start a game as all done and dusted by 6.30. A burger would have been good but there were only 100 or so sitting in the sun on the terrace. Good curry in Dore afterwards, 15 attendees. Long yomp afterwards lit by Mars at a distance of only 35 million miles or so.
No decision on third team captain position, despite much discussion.
