SCCC beat Wickersley in Yorkshire Champions Trophy

Yorkshire Champions Trophy. Wickersley v SCCC. Sunday 20th May. Wickersley 288 5. SCCC 290-4. Collegiate win in another high scoring game despite 2 fish currys?
What a game of cricket! What a shame that either side should come out as a loser in an enthralling encounter between 2 very good sides, for in effect, the championship of South Yorkshire.
Batting excelled on the day, on a great track in front of a good crowd on this very small, but picturesque ground, near Rotherham. South Riding League Champions v Yorkshire League Champions.
A big total from the home team lead by a beautiful 150 from Andy Tomlinson and 96 from former Collegiate player, Pete Wilson. Respectable bowling figures for Boocock and Kettleborough and a good opening spell from Wylie. Response: Gaywood and Priestley (42 & 62 respectively) put on a 100 for the first wicket in 21 overs. Richard Kettleborough, scoring at considerably more than a run a ball scores 69. Run rate never gets above 10 until 5 overs from the end when Ketts is out. Charlie Wall, (57 no at the end), who has been bludgeoning the ball at and past fielders on the ground for most of his innings, takes the airiel route out of Rotherham on 2 occasions off their most successful bowler in the penultimate over. This is copied by Matt Root at the other end with a 6 to the longest boundary, and Collegiate win by 6 wickets with 4 balls to spare. 290 4. Breathtaking stuff.
If you missed this, you missed a great game.
Items of note;
- At least 2 of the team looked decidedly fragile throughout the game. Something they had eaten the night before apparently. Ed was not impressed.
- One other member of the team spent a large part of the afternoon on his mobile, 50 yards from anyone else. Why? Did he not want the lads to hear? What can be going on?
-South Riding League rep John Hespe was seen having a robust and frank? exchange of views with one of the league management committee, about their fines system, for which no doubt the club will be fined in due course! - Watch this space!
