S.C.C.C 95-4
Doncaster Town 94-8 (Gibson 30*)

Sundays cancelled cup Semi-Final was moved to Abbeydale and was played on Tuesday night.

Captain Elliot Winter lost the toss and we were asked to bat on a wet and green wicket.

A steady start from Openers Alex Thomas and Elliot Callis until both men fell playing lazy shots. At the half way point Chirs Pickford (22) and James Harrison (13) carried us to 50 and looked good, playing shots all around the ground, until both were dismissed. Jack Lister (21*) and Levi Atherton (8) got us up to 95 which was probably 20 less than we should have got. In fairness Doncaster bowled very well at the death.

Not sure what was a good score, the opening bowlers knew that they had to keep things tight. However, both Chris Pickford and Jack lister struggled and bowled a little too short on a wicket that was sitting up. Chris got the much needed breakthrough in his final over with the score of around 30. First change bowlers Alex Varley and Elliot Callis bowled a tidy spell but a four ball an over and the score was racing along. Gibson batted really well for 30* but the rule of having to retire on 30 helped us as we were able to put a squeeze and wickets began to fall. Varley finished with excellent figures of 3-15 from his 4 overs. With 4 overs left Doncaster needed around 17. Elliot Winter brought himself on to bowl the last two overs from one end and bowled well but other death bowler Harry Wellman was the star of the show.

Needing just 6 off the over Wellman bowled a maiden showing nerves of steel. Doncaster scampered a couple of byes but it wasn't enough as the Under 13's won by 1 run. Wellman finished with 1-1 from his 2 overs at the end.

Lesson for the day....make sure the umpire has called over and time before going off celebrating lads!

A fantastic game played in the right spirit by both teams. Congratulations to the lads and i'm sure everyone will be hoping they can carry on the fine run with a win in the final on Sunday.

Who need Nadal Vs Federer....this is under 13's cricket at it finest.
