A brilliant all round team performance from the Under 13’s saw them through to the national knockout area final.

Fielding first, openers Chris Pickford and Jack Lister bowled well and kept it tight, Jack was unlucky not to pick up a wicket but Chris bowled brilliantly and deserved his 6-16, with a couple of good catches from Elliot Winter. The Other bowlers Harry Wellman (1-9) Tom Newman (1-2), Matt Moroney, Alex Varley and Elliot Callis all bowled well to keep the score down, however 27 extras was their top scorer and something to improve on. The team showed good professionalism by keeping the pressure up after taking early wickets. Some good fielding and vital stops by James Harrison also contributed in keeping the score down.

We knew that we had done well for the first half of the match and wanted to make sure we won the second half and progressed to the final

Opening the batting was Alex Thomas (8) who looked in good form until he was bowled by a good bowl. Other opener Eliot Callis batted sensibly and showed good shots all around the ground and finished on an unbeaten 27. However, it was the Pickford show as he finished off the game with a classy 32*.

A fantastic performance and we will hope for more of the same in the Final.

Final is to be held at Abbeydale, the date is to be confirmed, I will keep everyone posted as it would be nice if we could get a good crowd to cheer on the lads.
