Sheffield Collegiate vs Scarborough 02/07/11

We arrived at abbeydale with a fresh optimism after last weeks convincing 8 wicket win at Abbleby Frodingham we made 2 changes with Joe and Tank replacing Kieren and Mutters respectively. We lost the toss and we were inserted and we didnt make a good start to our innings losing blade for 0 as he skied a shot off his edge straight to mid off. In at 3 was Joe and he and Albert looked comfortable before Albert got a dubious decision against him as he 'edged behind'off the bowling of the other Lyth. In at 4 was Mckenna and the Scarborough bowlers were starting to dominate as they found the right areas consistently and we were powerless to resist and Macca was caught at cover again off Ashley Lyth.Wally came and went as he was caught extremly well as he inside edged it and the keeper made a full stretch dive and took the catch. Jase was in next and he and Joe were running well between the wickets and were looking to push on but unlucky a rash shot from Joe resulted in him losing his wicket again caught behind this time off the bowling of Jack Holt.Streety came in at 7 much to his delight and he crashed a cracking four to the fence and that was as good as it got and he soon was back in the pavillion snicking off giving Tennant his 4th catch of the day.Tank was in next but it was the man at the other end who lost his wicket as Jase was bowled after the ball hit nearly every part of his body.Moroney walked out confidently and he an Tank bravely put on 20 with Moroney not being daunted by the occasion and played his usual offensive game crashing a four over the bowlers head early on. Tank then was out again caught behind after a resilient effort with the bat. T and Moroney then put on 25 for the 10th wicket as Moroney was playing his normal offensive innings effectively hitting 5 fours and 1 six. T then yorked himself and was bowled leaving Dicko and Moroney as the last men in.Moroney played one shot too many and was caught behind of some sort as he top edged it high in too the air and was caught that was the end of his very important cameo that brought a slight look of respectabilty back into the score with us all out for 118.

Tea was suprisingly good!

Jase and Joe opened up and both bowled with the right attitude and from one of Joe's worser balls he bowled the danger man Simpson for just 8 giving us a glimmer of hope. The number 3 put on put on 23 with the number 2 but the former was out for just 7 caught by Rooty off the bowling of T after some interesting shots to say the least! But their 3rd wicket stand of 80 killed off any lasting hope of victory as we didnt bowl particularly badly but we didnt take the wickets we needed to make a challenge. We did take a wicket late on as Moroney capped a very succesful day at the office having their opener stumped on 49 it's fair to say he wasn't at all amused. The game was over soon after as Tennant completed his man of the match performance by hitting a boundary which also brought up his half century.

Bad day for us but we will have to bounce back as we have a 2 game weekend travelling to Bawtry Road to play United and then Harrogate on the sunday lets hope we can push for maximum points to further push us up the table
