The midweek Massive on a run of points from the last 2 weeks...due to rain, had to actually play a game this week! Previous fixture against TOA, on the top pitch, was called off due to poor outfield at start of season!
Nice sunny day, home fixture, fielding 1st, 14 overs agreed, new tactic with the bowlers, Will Lacey & Rob Shaw opening the attack, both bowling well, with very few boundaries, and 2 dropped catches off Lacey at cow corner. It was then time to bring on the 2nd choice left arm spinner...Nads...who’s 1st ball removed 2 stumps, which may have scared the opposite, as no-one seemed keep to play any sort of shot at Nad’s, not even a defence or leave! Kam took over from Shaw, and looked his usual steady self, ending his 1st over with a mind boggling slower ball, that the batsman thought bout playing 20 shots at, but played none! Nads continued to enjoy himself, taking 2 more in 2 balls, declined to have any catchers for hat trick ball...WIDE! lack of experience showed! Kam and Nads cleared up TOA, all for 61, Nads 6 for 8 (with a wide)!
The chase started slow but steady, with Danny Walton, and Matt Thompson, ticking the board over, with a lack of boundaries, very un-midweek! They both fell close together, with score on bout 30, to be replaced by Tom T Hancock, and 1st team all rounder, Dicko, who’d requested a bat this week! T was next to go, leaving Simmo and Dicko in the middle. Few leg side full bungers at Simmo, and Dicko nudging the 1’s and we were home with overs to spare!
Away next week, probably more challenging against Sheffield Friends, and a newer ball required as the umpire complained it was too soft...even for midweek?!
(sorry this report is week late!)
