I’m afraid with no Bully this week, the report is down to me and a lot less entertaining than his.
Anyway we won the toss and chose to field against an odd looking and hardly recognisable Doncaster team. This proved to be the case as Kaiser and Rob Shaw bowled tight and effectively with Kaiser picking up 1 wicket in his 7 overs and Rob Shaw varying his bowling and picking up 3. Off to a good start in a must win game against relegation candidates.
With the introduction of Matt ‘quick over’ Root from one end and Chris Pickford the other we were getting thru the overs quickly without many runs but no wickets. That all changed when posh boy came on to bowl and took a lovely 3 fer and was supported by Fiddles at the other end snaffling 1 wicket.
2 wickets to get but the opener was still in – then sure enough young Pickford came back and finished him off for an astounding 21 off 42 overs. Very shortly afterwards number 11 fell to another very straight Pickford ball. A great effort in the field with plenty of energy from various members to keep them to 100ish all out.
A superb tea was had even if the sandwiches were a bit posh. And so into bat Tom Lister and Callis. Lister after his 88* last week hoping to continue and Callis after a good sleep, playing his first game for Collegiate for a while.
They both must be trying to prove something as they batted sensibly yet effectively, playing some lovely shots all around the ground and eased us to victory by 4.30pm. Callis 50* and Lister 38*
Another great performance from a very young 2nd team again – only 1 over 25 this week and now clear of relegation – another win and we should be easily home and dry and ready to press on next season.
