Under 9s

Following a good number of requests I am pleased to be able to advise that we have been able to secure a time and a venue to run some winter training for the Under 9's.
 
Full details are on the 'Nets' part of the website and the first session is on Sunday 27th January 2013.
 
Existing and new MVCA members are more than welcome.

UNDER 11's

The nets are waterlogged so the U11 nets are cancelled.However we will be putting on some fielding drills on the outfield/astro pitch if the players want to come down

UNDER 9 's

There will be a one hour session on the astro/hockey pitch 6pm to 7 pm. If it stays fine after that then we may move on to the bottom pitch outfield for the final hour.

Thank you for all the enquiries in respect of the Under 9's for the forthcoming season.

I have tried to hire a Sports Hall at a reasonable time for this age group but I have not been able to get one at a time when the majority of the Under 9 coaches were available.

The Under 9 practice sessions will therefore commence on Friday 20th April outside at Abbeydale with registration from 5.30pm onwards.

The first matches are not until 10th June so we have nearly two months to prepare the teams.

The 2011 SCCC Annual Club Dinner Dance is at Baldwin's Omega on Friday 14th October 2011 7.15pm for 7.45pm. Carriages late.

Dinner & Disco is £30.00 per person and good value as it's always a great evening at Baldwin's.

The presentation of cricket awards for the senior teams will follow dinner.

I am pleased to report that having won 14 out of 15 regular season games the Under 9s Blue won 2 out of 3 games at Finals Day losing by single figures to Doncaster.

This for some of the players has been the culmination of 3 seasons hard work during which every one of them has improved beyond recognition. The results have inevitably also improved but that is irrelevant at this level. Indeed that is the ethos of almost every club we have shared the enjoyment with over the last 3 seasons.

The SQUAD (note not just 8 players) managed by Richard Thomas and coached by Chris Ash have been a credit to the club. The emphasis has been on enjoyment and improvement but the team themselves have demonstrated a competitive edge whilst playing the game the Collegiate way.

Michael Vaughan OBE will be officially opening our new Practice Nets on Friday 24th June 2011 at 6pm at the start of the Academy Session ( weather permitting). Everybody welcome - BBQ and Bar.

Ladies and gentlemen, do you spend ages ringing and texting round trying to organise your chosen 11 for a fixture, only to have to cope with cry-offs, grandma's birthdays and numerous other unavailabilty excuses. Let me introduce you to TEAMER, an on-line simple to use administration tool that does the work for you.

A bowling machine... A great invention, capable of putting the ball on the same spot as consistently as His Lordship and amazingly even quicker than him! With the fantastic new nets providing a top class surface for practicing on a bowling machine would push our training onto the next level.

Throwdowns can only get us so far before peoples shoulders give way. According to my calculations we would need £2125 in order to have a top BOLA bowling machine 24 balls and a powerpack that can be connected to the mains. As a result I think fundraising may be in order to make this pipe dream a reality!
