Along with the launch of Michael Vaughan's book, this makes for a very good few weeks for the club.

As there is no match this week, can you please make sure that you bring all raffle tickets, money etc to Thursday night training. I can then pass everything on to Riaz.
Please do not forget, if you must, ask (or grunt if you in a Kevin mood) Mum or Dad (or both) to remind you. It will make things easier in the long run.
Thanks
Andrew.
Norton Oakes U17’s V SCCC U17’s (30/06/2009)
SCCC 127 for 6
Norton Oakes 129 for 7 (19 overs)
Picture the scene a nice ground, a sunny day, exams out of the way for most of the players and then the bombshell dropped by the manager!! Who has remembered to bring the raffle tickets (and more importantly the money) as requested last week?
You could hear a pin drop on the grass… not one. Let us see if one remembers next week, some how…
SCCC U17’s V Whiston PC U 17’s
Whiston 107 for 1
SCCC 104 for 7
A thrilling finish to the match this Tuesday, on what appeared to be a very lively pitch the Whiston team put up a score of 107 for 1. Only one wicket taken but nearly half the total overs only giving a maximum of 4 runs per over, left what seemed an achievable total.
Possibly the pick of the bowling being M Cork with 4-0-12-0, Whiston opener Taylor stroked the ball around the ground and had 6 four’s in his unbeaten 51.
Hallam U17’s V SCCC U17’s. 2nd round Paramore Cup.
SCCC 110 for 7 after 20 overs
Hallam 113 for 1 after 18.1 overs
This was always going to be a tough test, and my gut feeling after our 20 overs was that we were about 25 runs short of a total that would have given us something to defend.
After a shaky start we were 13 for 2 after 3 overs the killer over being the 3rd were we lost 2 wickets for no runs. But credit to Josh Jones and Chris Pickford they dug deep and started to build a steady partnership.
Under 17’s give a master class
SCCC 182 for 3
Parkhead 41 all out
Jones
Varley
Hancock
Pickford
Lacey
Woodhead
Udall
Cork
Rooke
Woodward
Barnsley
After a quick warm up session taken by Alex Patmore ( forgot to give him a mention up to now this year and he has been spot on, Tom Lister a hard act to follow) Thanks Alex.
Both the Josh’s opened with a steady start 19 of 4 overs as commented on by Alex the openers started as we normally finish and that was quick safe runs putting the pressure on the fielders.
Sheffield Collegiate CC U17’s v Maltby U17’s 9th June 2009
Maltby 68 for 7
SCCC 69 for 2
A game that looked off from Sunday but the rain held off so I arrived at the top pitch to set things up. After opening the door to the pavilion the sight that greeted me was a hole in the new section of wall, is it me but why does this happen to be fair this could have been an accident but all the same I am sure our homes don’t have holes like this in them so why the pavilion!!
U17’s Win First round tie in Paramour Cup
SCCC 130 for 3 from 20
Shiregreen 62 All out from 19.5
It’s been some time since the last report, one game not reported on was a defeat to Aston Hall a quick overview was that we had to chase 136 for 1 with J Orr 53 retired. We fell short by 18 runs with Matt Cork giving me more than a good reason to move him up the batting order with 45 Not Out supported well by Elliot Winter on 21 Not Out. (We just ran short of overs a lesson to be learned here about looking for singles and being on your toes)
On to the cup match,
U17’s V Wickersley away 5th May 09
Waiting for a text for most of the day to say the match off, but surprise it did not come. So off to Abbeydale and the usual counting players in and who has made their own way. Lost one player at last minute (nice to see something’s don’t change). Under 13’s game cancelled enter Matt Moroney he did not know what hit him next thing in a car aiming for Wickersley.

The draw for the club's Summer Prize draw (raffle) has been changed from Thursday 30 July to Sunday 2 August due to numerous difficulties getting all the sold ticket stubs back. The draw will be held in the bar at Abbeydale at the end of the day's play and winning tickets will be drawn by Mr. Anil Walhekar, the manager for the Cricket Master's Academy, who we are currently hosting.
The prizes are:
1) 42" LCD TV.
2) Michael Vaughan signed bat.
3) Imran Khan signed bat.
4) Graeme Smith signed shirt.
5) £150 Luxury Hamper.
6) D&P Cricket Bat worth £150.
The Junior Section is collecting the Tesco Vouchers for Schools & Clubs.
We are aiming to collect enough for 2/3 Kwik Cricket sets and as many practice balls as we can. The vouchers can be placed in the box attached to the notice board in the main pavillion or passed to me via any of the coaches or managers.
Thanks for your support. Julie Lister

Anyone interested in coaching/managing a junior team next season (2009) or with helpful ideas on how the junior section can be improved is invited to attend a meeting on Wednesday, 3rd December 7pm at Abbeydale.
The meeting will be to discuss all things related to junior coaching and management which includes winter nets, squad selection, practices, representative cricket, juniors' integration into senior cricket, friendly matches and friday night Academy.

The club will undertake it's first ever tour of India, and to my knowledge, first ever overseas tour this October.
The tour party departs from Manchester on the 22nd October and will return on the 10th November. The tour will consist of 12 matches of varying formats and will take in four cities. It will start in Mumbai before moving to Pune and Bangalore, where the India-Australia match is currently being played, and will end in the seaside resort of Goa.

The 2008 SCCC club dinner is at Baldwins on Friday 10th October 7.15 for 7.45. Carriages late. Dinner + music is £27.50 and is basically at cost, but at a loss if you, this means you, don't come. The food is always spot-on at Baldwins and there's a lot to talk about.
See you there. Tuck pencil over ear for the Angry quiz.
Please contact any team captain, Julie Ibbotson, or Richard Ibbotson with numbers + special dietary requirements.
