Club Family Day
Submitted by Riaz on 4 August, 2008 - 13:16.The Club Family Day and Gordon Hall 6-a-side that was unfortunately cancelled last year due to rain is due to be held on Sunday, August 24.
With the current unavailibility of a significant number of players we are contemplating changes from the 6-a-side format to 20/20 and also possibly the date. We are looking at a junior and senior 20/20 match with players made up from U/13 to U/17 in the junior match and all teams in the seniors. The matches will be played in coloured clothing with a white ball and all the normal 20/20 rules. read more »

Massive U15's
Submitted by TomLeips on 25 June, 2008 - 22:36.Eckington 142 for 2 SCCC 98 ao.
Like our batting performance an all too brief match report!
Riaz looked round and let Simmo captain. Wyles opened with Davey. ID got a bit of tap despite bowling fairly well for an opening batsman but still got some tap. Replaced by Fielding who did similar but at a slightly more economical rate. Will Lacey bowled nicely but their openers put on 100 before their overseas (60) was LBW to a slower bal in Wylie's 2nd. No. 3 departed thanks to a superman runout from Wyles. Other opener batted through for 64. Prash bowled well at the death apart from a couple of wides. The fielding had been amusing in places and a couple of dropped catches coupled with some pretty good batting meant we had a big total to chase. read more »

Mansfield League: Winning streak broken as Collegiate Sunday XI took a day off !!
Submitted by prash-sporty on 9 June, 2008 - 12:35.Although Play cricket website says collegiate won by 3 runs, it is merely a mistake as collegiate suffered their first complete defeat against Welbeck Colliery CC in the Mansfield league on Sunday.

Root and Callis master class sees off South Normanton
Submitted by Geoff on 26 May, 2008 - 09:30.There is no drop down for Mansfield league Angry
Windy on top pitch against South Normanton many of whom had their England kit on.We had a god mixed side with
2/3 firt teamers
3 3rd teamers
4 4th teamers
2 5th teamers
1 under 17
2 under 15
1 under 13
Lost the toss again and opened with TH and TK. Tom bowled well but they got off to flyer. Cymbols reckoned we would be chasing 300, for those who could hear him in the wind. We dropped a couple and bowled too short. "Clubshop" replaced TK and took time to find line and length before bowling their opener. Lord quitened them down but suffered from the rough but lightening outfield at times. Enter Jacques and 9 overs for a 5 fer and they slump from 120 for 0 at halfway ish to 186 all out.Awesome! read more »

Thirds Warm’ed by point as Lobber sees it through.
Submitted by davey on 19 May, 2008 - 10:36.The Thirds grabbed a point up at Warmsworth against a decent team but after a steady display in the field should feel disappointed as they stumbled to 161 for 9 in their 50 over reply. Warmsworth chose to bat on a good wicket, after Hamps lost his first toss of the season, making a decent 210 for 8. Miller bowled better and better as his lengthy spell progressed , taking two well earned wickets and keeping a lid on the scoring rate. The other bowlers all bowled around the Big-T with little success in the way of wickets until Z’d returned to snaffle 5 wickets (3 in one over) in a frantic conclusion to the Warmsworth innings. Israh on his return from the ring, kept both sides entertained and amused throughout our spell of fielding. read more »

Mid Week Cricket
Submitted by sealy on 2 May, 2008 - 07:59.I have spoken to Riaz and offered to do the on field Captaincy duties when I am playing.
If anyone else fancies it shout now.
I do not have the capacity to do the admin or sorting the side out.
It would be a shame if all the hard work done by Tony Miller and Jason Pitcher to establish the Midweek side in the top division locally were wasted.
Can any other regulars contribute some time to this.

Representative Cricket anyone?

Outdoor Nets
Submitted by Riaz on 14 April, 2008 - 22:01.Weather permitting we are hoping to put the netting up at Abbeydale on Wed at 17h00. The more people able to assist the quicker it will get done.
Look forward to seeing some of you there.

Top Pavilion
Submitted by Riaz on 13 April, 2008 - 12:14.The top pavilion has passed the inspection by the South Yorkshire League following a week-long restoration led by Julie Lister. Thanks to everyone who contributed to ensuring this was a success. The following people deserve a special thanks - Bill Croft, Andy Leiper, Tom Lister and Andy Staley - as they worked tirelessly around the clock to ensure we were able to finish the project on time.
I hope that the teams and players using this facility appreciate the effort people put into cleaning and restoring the pavilion and do their best to keep it this way.

Dismantling nets and Twenty20
Submitted by Mr Angry on 16 September, 2007 - 15:20.Owing to, in the end, a lack of numbers, 8 (average age 49 3/4) in fact, the Twenty20 shoot out for the two YD/Mansfield teams was cancelled. A real shame as a nice day and I was looking forward to it. I expect the fact that is was after the end-of-year work party to dismantle nets/sightscreen had something to do with it. So the sock money (£480 and change) was begging, and so the 8 of us had a great roast at Hassop Hall and some nice wine. Excellent place for lunch, £30.45 per head + wine etc., and the lack of numbers suddenly didn't seem to matter as we mellowed over a little port later on. Thanks for all the fines money chaps, shame you weren't there. There's enough left for two bottles at Baldwin's for the EOY dinner, 5 October, 7.30.
