Tom Lister has been appointed Assistant Head Coach and will co-ordinate and take responsibility, in accordance with guidelines from the Head Coach, for the club’s Junior coaching sessions.

It is our intention to maintain high ethical standards in coaching and prepare all coaching sessions in advance. We will also encourage and co-ordinate coaching development and standards.

All SCCC players will be given the opportunity to fulfill their potential.

We are also delighted to announce that Joe Root (Yorkshire YCCC & England U19 International) will be returning to play for the club in the Yorkshire League this season (Subject to YCCC commitments) and also assist Nadeem with the club’s coaching sessions.

Congratulations to Richard Kettleborough on his promotion to the International Umpires Panel. We wish him all the best. Congratulations also to Joe Root for winning the Man of the Series award on the recent England U/19 tour of Bangladesh. Along with the launch of Michael Vaughan's book, this makes for a very good few weeks for the club.

2010 Winter Nets

In an effort to improve winter nets, I'd like to have a 2hr session next year. The only way though is to change from a Thursday to a Monday evening.

Rather than simply making the change, I'd like to know if players are in favour of this change or if they'd prefer we keep our normal Thursday session.

I'd appreciate if people could either respond on here or email me directly with their thoughts - riazrichards@hotmail.com

We need a decision in the next few weeks so I'd like responses asap.

A MASIVE effort...but not quite enough!

The midweek Massive arrived at the last game of the season, knowing a win would definitely keep them up...the tricky part was playing top of the league, Attock, who needed to win to retained the title! Knowing this, they’d brought a full strength team, from all over north of England!

MASSIVE UpRoot Kashmir

3 games left for the massive....weather permitting, home game, good chance of a victory! Good by Crofty senior to get a wicket ready after rain past few days. Strong team fielded including an appearance from all 3 Root’s, Nads back in for a home game, and Riaz.
12 over’s agreed (just like every other week!), due to poor light and possible showers. Kashmir a weakened team with all 3 Javed’s, so feeling confident!

a MASSIVE drop

Following a run of 3 weeks now with points...best for several years, another nice day meant rain couldn’t affect the points again, a trickier game away at Sheffield Friends on the picturesque Norton Oakes ground.
Having text more than half the club to get 11 players out this week, with majority saying “not available”, some with no reason, others in Wales, and 1 angry looking 5th teamer opting to go Salsa dancing instead.

Massive get points WITHOUT rain!

The midweek Massive on a run of points from the last 2 weeks...due to rain, had to actually play a game this week! Previous fixture against TOA, on the top pitch, was called off due to poor outfield at start of season!

Massive NOT so hot in Caribbean

The midweek team were sitting comfortable mid table having been rained off the first 2 weeks of the season!

Net and Sightscreen reconstruction - Sunday 5 April 10am

The nets and sightscreens need to be reconstructed for use this season. We would appreciate everyone's help on Sunday, 5th April at 10am.

Martin Maddocks will be in charge and the more assistance he has the quicker it will get done. As all of you are aware, there is no official groundsman this season so everyone will need to help out wherever and whenever possible.

Sad news from Ashley Webster

"Owen Grant

It is with much sadness that I must inform that Owen Grant died last week from a heart attack following a surgical procedure, he was 52.

Whilst not a member of this club he will be familiar to many of us at SCCC for his role as secretary of Sheffield Cleansing Midweek Cricket Club against whom the various incarnations of the midweek massive (Both as Old Edwardians and SCCC) had many memorable games. "Big Owen", as he was universally known, was not just larger than life in stature but also in generosity of spirit, friendship and boundless enthusiasm for the game of cricket, a true gentleman. I am sure that all who fondly remember Big Owen will agree that local cricket is a poorer place following his tragically early passing"

Senior Nets

With the season a little over five weeks away, I'll be dividing players into two groups at nets this week. One group consisting of current and potential 1st and 2nd XI players and the other the balance of players attending. The format will be the same as last week with nets for an hour and fielding for 30 mins.
