Parkhead 139 for 8 13pts
OECCC 100 for 7 7pts
On one of our rare visits to Abbeydale Park we found the new facilities which had almost been completed last August still not ready for use. Further subscription refunds will be expected. We won the toss again and Ian Davey and Danny Pearson got us off to a very good start keeping it tight and picking up wickets. Particular praise due to Dan after a long lay off who as he remarked himself "had come over all Gus Fraser". Gibbo showed some improvement on last week but still managed a nine ball over again. "Pony-boy" Street gave up very little cumulatively totting up to 29 overs for 46 runs over the two matches so far. We did,in the end, concede too many runs through a combination of horrid mis-fields on the short boundary, unnecessary extras and Skipper's Pies which accompanied his 3 late wickets. 25 less would have been getable even for our very thin batting. Early wickets fell until Joe Root and Chris Street came together in an unlikely Little and Large event adding 46 for the 5th wicket. Streety made a very circumspect 29 top score in the match. Rooty continued in his unflappable way batting through 36 overs for 21 not out as we settled for the losing draw points. Particularly enjoyable was his salute to the crowd when he finally middled a four off the very last ball to bring up the hundred and a batting point. Deservedly the little fella got a warm hand from the opposition as he led the players off.
Next game not for a fortnight when our true team should finally take shape as Joe's Dad and Hespey step up to be evaluated on the testing ground of Olive Grove.
