Season 2011

Thank you for all the enquiries in respect of the Under 9's for the forthcoming season.

I have tried to hire a Sports Hall at a reasonable time for this age group but I have not been able to get one at a time when the majority of the Under 9 coaches were available.

The Under 9 practice sessions will therefore commence on Friday 20th April outside at Abbeydale with registration from 5.30pm onwards.

The first matches are not until 10th June so we have nearly two months to prepare the teams.

I look forward to seeing you all on 20th April ( weather permitting of course!)

The Race Night club fundraiser is back. To be held on Friday 23rd March at Baldwins Omega Restaurant at 7.15 for 7.45. A fun night out and a great pre season get together. Read more ........

Winter nets for adult players & U17’s start at Meadowhead School on Thursday 9th February 2012.

Main Sports Hall as in previous years, 8pm to 9,30pm

The Winter Nets will once again be held in the Sports Hall at Meadowhead School. Full details below:-

Under 11's - Tuesday 7th Feb through to Tuesday 10th April 6.30pm to 8.30pm

Under 13's - Saturday 11th Feb through to Saturday 14th April 9am to 11am

Under 15's - Saturday 11th Feb through to Saturday 14th April 11am to 1pm

Under 17's/mens - Thursday 9th Feb through to Thursday 5th April 8pm to 9.30pm.

Details for the Under 9's will be announced shortly.

The under 11 to under 17 age group children should have had an email with full details and payment options. If anyone has any questions please contact me on the email below

Just a reminder of the club AGM this coming Thursday 8th December 2011 at 6.30pm in the function room at Abbeydale Park.

The Notice & Agenda were sent out to members last month but anybody requiring another copy should contact Tim Pickford.

Congratulation to Will Street who won the Yorkshire League Junior Bowling award for 2011

At the recent South Yorkshire League Annual Dinner & Presentation Night, 3XI Captain Andy Simpson was presented with the Division 4 title.

The following players also won individual awards.

Andy Simpson - Division 4 Batting Award
Ben Fielding - Division 4 Junior Bowling Award. (He should also have won the senior award but apparently can’t win both...)
Elliot Winter - Division 4 Junior Batting Award
Jonny Udall - Junior Wicket Keeper award for all the Divisions

Congratulations to all the award winners and the team for winning the title!

Congratulations to Collegiate Junior Ben Rooke who at the recent Yorkshire & Derbyshire League 2011 Annual Awards Dinner scooped the Senior AND Junior Batting award for Division 3.

Ben made 535 runs at an average of 76.43 and was also voted the Yorkshire & Derbyshire Young Player of the Season for 2011.

In Division 5, Veteran Andrew Langdale won the bowling award taking 26 wickets at 8.46 a piece.

Andrew also won the League Player of the Month for June 2011 when he took 9 for 1 against Whittington Wanderers 2XI…....just in case you’d not heard!

You never lose it Langers!!

Many thanks to all who attended the recent Annual Dinner Dance & Prize Presentation at Baldwin’s Omega recently and congratulations to the award winners for 2011 below.

The 3rds went off to play the last game of the season at ‘home’ in Graves Park needing 7 points to secure the title. We firstly have to thank Norton Woodseats for letting us use the ground and for having 3 people there to help us get everything set up before the start.

Simmo made it in time to toss with the game being closer to work than Rossington the previous week. He duly lost the toss and we were inserted to bat on a deck which didn’t look fantastic. However any misgivings about the deck were soon put to rest as Straws and Alex Varley opened up and looked in no trouble at all.

Straws went off like a train hitting a flurry at boundaries including everyone’s favourite shot of the day a glorious on-drive off the opening bowler.

Dinner & Disco is £30.00 per person and good value as it's always a great evening at Baldwin's.

The presentation of cricket awards for the senior teams will follow dinner.
