Anyone remember John Field, Chief Executive at Abbeydale some years ago ? Well I reckon he's organised this World Cup !!!!

Question to cricketers

Hello cricketers.

I am currently a student at Sheffield Hallam Uni, studying Graphic Design. I have been given the task of designing packaging for cricket bats, gloves and pads.

I would like to ask you a few questions to what you real cricketers think to the current packaging that is out there.

1. Currently gloves and pads come in a plastic/fabric bag. Do you reuse the bags that they originally come in or do you just throw it away?

2.Would putting packaging on the bats for protection put you of testing/buying the bat?

3.Would it be best if you could test the bat with it in the packaging or if you had to take it in and out to test it?

4.How much information about the bats/gloves/pads would you like to see on the packaging?

Australian cricket

I think I saw most of these with the word England substituted for Australia after the last tour. Life is sweet.

WHAT do you get if you cross the Australian cricket team with an OXO cube? A laughing stock.

The Australian bobsleigh team have asked the Aussie cricket team for a meeting. They want to ask their advice about going downhill so fast!

What's the difference between Ricky Ponting and a funeral director? A funeral director doesn't keep losing the ashes.

Did you hear what the stump microphones picked up when The Ashes skippers tossed the coin on Boxing Day? Andrew Strauss called correctly and, quick as a flash, said to Ricky Ponting: "You lads can bat.'' Just as quick, Ponting replied: "No, we can't. We really can't."

Nads' Farewell

You may well be aware that our illustrious left arm spinner (no, not Mark Longley) and world class footballer is leaving us this winter to return home to Pakistan. There can be little doubt that Nads' impact on the club has been very positive and it goes without saying that we wish him well.

Nads' flies out of the UK on Christmas Eve and Lord Dixon of Fulwood is organising a send off for one of the few past or present members who have possessed such an ability on both the cricket and football pitch. The event is at All Bar One in town on Wednesday evening (22nd December) at 8.00pm.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible there. Failing that, have a lovely Christmas break.

Izzy 'Too Fast' Asif

Izzy fights at Don Valley Stadium on Saturday 4th December.
Tickets are priced at £30 and other boxers include Tim Witherspoon Jnr and fellow Sheffield boxer, Liam Cameron. The first bout is at 8.00pm and the doors open at 7.00pm.
