Raymond Jenkinson

Raymond Jenkinson died last Thursday aged 90. His funeral will take place at Eyam on Monday 1st Dec. at 1.00 pm.

Raymond became a member in 1937 and played in the 1st XI as free-scoring elegant batsman and a brilliant fielder, from 1949 to 1970 he was the Club Treasurer and from 1972 a well informed Vice-President last attending the Luncheon in 2007. It was always a pleasure to be in his company and those who knew him will be very sad.

Indian Tour 2008

The club will undertake it's first ever tour of India, and to my knowledge, first ever overseas tour this October.

The tour party departs from Manchester on the 22nd October and will return on the 10th November. The tour will consist of 12 matches of varying formats and will take in four cities. It will start in Mumbai before moving to Pune and Bangalore, where the India-Australia match is currently being played, and will end in the seaside resort of Goa.

2008 SCCC end of season dinner

The 2008 SCCC club dinner is at Baldwins on Friday 10th October 7.15 for 7.45. Carriages late. Dinner + music is £27.50 and is basically at cost, but at a loss if you, this means you, don't come. The food is always spot-on at Baldwins and there's a lot to talk about.

See you there. Tuck pencil over ear for the Angry quiz.

Please contact any team captain, Julie Ibbotson, or Richard Ibbotson with numbers + special dietary requirements.

2nds Win Last Game Of The Season

S.C.C.C 178-7 (Butler 50 Richards 47)
Shiregreen 127-7 (Walton 3-14)

The seconds played Shiregreen at Abbeydale in what turned out to be a waste of a saturday afternoon for everyone. Shiregreen turned up 20 minutes before the start of the match and we didnt do a propper warm up because of rumours that they werent going to turn up.

Ty Powell

I've just heard that Ty Powell, Mark (who used to play for SCCC) has passed away. Mark gained the nickname 'R Mark' after Ty's numerous comments on his son's ability and performances.

Ty was a decent bloke who did a lot for cricket in this area. I've lost touch with Mark but I'm sure I speak for all of those who played juniors and seniors with him back in the 90's in passing on my condolences.
