Third team maintain promotion hopes

The much changed third team visited League leaders Oughtibridge needing a win to keep their promotion hopes alive. Skipper Tyas lost the toss again ( thats  9 out of the 12 matches played !) and Collegiate were inserted on a decent track but one still a bit damp from the Friday night downpours. Wickets fell regularly with only Dan Turner 37 showing the required application in the top order. Sharukh Khan 22 and Qarsam Mailk 20 added a vital late partnership of 31 which saw the Thirds post what looked like an under par 144 all out

Oughtibridge set off well depsite the pacy bowling from Pickford and Malik and were 80 for 2 when Zain Ghazanfar began to bowl a magical spell of 9.2 overs 6 for 14 which saw Oughtibridge collapse to 106 all out. He was well supported by Dan Turner 2 for 19 which meant 7 points collected and still an outside chance of promotion

Special thanks to Oliver Tyas just 13 yrs old making his senior debt who batted and fielded well and to Mick Rowntree (senior) who stood in to score at the last minute to allow Oliver to play after a drop out in a higer team

The Thirds realistically have to win all remaining games to go up but if this attitude and work rate are put in to all the remaining games then that is more than achievable
