VPs lost to Hundall (shouldn’t have)

On Abbeydale top pitch. Hundall 136 all out (Longley 5-23, Winter 3-33), SCCC VPs 120 (Hickman 49).

Good to play Hundall again after some time. Rubbish weather during week but the pitch looked basically fine on a cool day. Sealie campaigning for independence or not independece elsewhere so Stewie deputed to lose the toss which he did with great skill. We bowled steadily enough without great penetration but the ball was swinging a bit and we kept the runs under control. Angry got the first three and Longers cleaned up with the first 5-fer. Hundall a.o. 136 and conceding two overs. Fielding not too bad but Hundall never really pushed the bowlers around to put us under pressure and 136 should not have been enough. We conceded 14 wides though.

Good tea!

Bating was distinctly patchy. Runs never seemed easy but Stewie accumulated pretty well to get 29, Bull similarly so for his 49, and Josh White looks promising and calm while scoring 16. Everyone else who faced a ball a writeoff really. I feel we looked rusty batting and while one can over-net, we looked very under-netted. Everyone down on Thursday then? Two or three decisions were odd but that does not alter the fact we were under-done and lost the game rather than being beaten.
