The junior led 3rd team welcomed back skipper Lobber on a glorious Saturday at the Abbeydale Oval ( Top Pitch) . Lobber won the toss ( what a tosser !) and we were able to sit back and watch 15 yrs old Matt Tyas 59 and 16 yrs old Andy Stevens put on an impressive 117 opening stand. The tempo was picked up further by 15 yrs old Brad Jones 36 and the ageing Rob Priestley ( 17 yrs old) who struck an impressive 36 from just 33 balls. 217-6 was a seasons best
Down to the bottom pitch for tea ………moving on !!
Upper Haugh set about the getting the near 5 an over target in a hugely positive manner and it wasnt until spin twins Brad Jones 5-41 and veteran Andy Tyas 3-52 were introduced that wickets fell. Despite this the visitors kept coming back in to the game and as we moved in to the last over either team could still win the game. Collegiate held their nerve with skipper Lomas leading the way and a run out gave the thirds all seven points.
A great game of cricket, played on a good deck, in tremeondous spirit by two competitive teams.
Fine of the day to Ed Lomas for buying size 11 boots with orange stripes but surpassed by his dad for dropping a dolly !!
That is three wins from three at home and no wins from four away. Millhouses away this Saturday where that trend will change
