Root’s run riot!

The Root family enjoyed a three day spell of incredible scoring with each of the three registering a 3-figure score, including double centuries from Joe and Billy.

The run riot started on Sunday at Abbeydale in the Mansfield league match against Welbeck where Billy and Matt combined for a 305 run unbroken 2nd wicket partnership with Billy scoring a career-best (possibly family) 219 not out and Matt getting 112 not out. Billy followed this up with 49 in the Yorkshire league match versus Harrogate yesterday.

Joe, having watched the run-glut on Sunday, and being rather upset at being outshone by Billy proceeded to smash his career-best of 150odd by scoring 235 not out for Yorkshire Academy against Durham Academy today.

This sort of scoring by three members of one club would be a phenomenal achievement on it’s own, being scored by three members of one family is astonishing.

We can be incredibly proud of all three’s achievements and hopefully it spurs everyone else on for the rest of the season.
