Done and Dusted

Centralians 157-5 (Parr 3-53). Us 158-9 (Rusby 61*). One wicket win. Here are season’s averages as well…….First past the post this season, we finished on Saturday with a one wicket win over Centralians. Briefly, they made 157/5 thanks to average bowling and pretty useless fielding fron veterans and juniors alike. Skip was reduced to offering rewards in the bar for the first catch before clutching a c&b himself, Parr 3/53 off 16. Later 39/2 became 50/7 before Rusby and Parr(27) put on 78 and then the boys from form 3X (1967) at King Teds added the final 30 runs to win in the last over. Pete Rusby 61* confirmed his player of the season by a mile, batting 34 overs to win the game by sheer force of will.

It has been a tough season, Mace, Gibson, Lings and Wheeler will all contribute more next time and some of the vets will have to look to their laurels or face demotion to Foulksey’s or Dovey’s team. 50 different players used and abused.
