A good game’s a quick game

SCCC 86 Elsecar 87-4 (Knott 3-35)A bit of a malleting at the hands of one of the top 2 sides in the SYL Premier. We won the toss & batted on the top pitch, which was fastish and bouncy. The Elsecar opening bowlers took advantage of the conditions but we batted poorly. Swing and seam accounted for our openers and every time we looked like getting a partnership going, poor shots and running between the wickets brought us back to reality.

All out in the 35th over also showed more than an element of lack of application. At least we bowled with slightly more purpose Seags and Knotty bowling aggressively. A flurry of wickets fell and Elsecar were 18-4 at one point. The bottom pitch must have wondered what was happening.
Knotty then dropped Yates from a massively difficult c&b chance, which was his first drop of the season. Yates and Kingston batted through without any further alarm.

Disappointingly we have now dropped to 5th with Wath catching us up.
